Unemployment on the rise under Coalition

Unsurprisingly joblessness has grown under the ConDems, a new TUC study reveals today.

500,000 more people were unemployed at the beginning of this year than in the same period in 2008.

Northern England regions are currently the worst affected, with Yorkshire and Humberside counting 100,000 more out of work.

Young workers are once again made the bear the brunt with the number of 16 to 24 year-olds without a job up by almost 200,000.

For those who have found jobs it isn’t all roses either.

A poll made on working students by The Student Room website found out how dire it is out there for working youth.

One of those quizzed said he delivered leaflets for extra cash, but that he “only got paid £20 a month and worked for a least five hours a day.”
